 Csillagocskánk, Demetria Devonne Lovato 1992. augusztus 20.-án látta meg a napvilágot Texasban. Édesanyja Dianna Hart, édesapja Patrick Lovato. Két nagyszerű testvért tudhat maga mell ett: Dallast, a nővérét, és a kicsi Madisont. Egy éve a Camp Rockban tűnt fel a Jonas tesók oldalán, akikkel azóta is remek viszonyt ápol. BFF-je azonban nem valamelyik Jonas, hanem Selena Gomez. Már közös filmjük is van, a PPP! Deminek egyébként két albuma készült idáig, a Don't Forget és a Here We go again.

Demi Lovato Texas-ban született, azon belül Dallas-ban, spanyol, ír és olasz vér csörgedezik az ereiben.
Édesanyja Dianna Hart, művész, édesapja, Patrick Lovato, aki Új Mexicóba költözött miután elvált Demi anyjától 1994-ben, ezért Demi csak ritkán láthatta őt. Két testvére van: Dallas, aki szintén a színész és énekesi pályát választotta, és Madison De La Garza, aki a féltestvére. Származását tekintve spanyol, ír, és olasz vér csörgedezik az ereiben.
Demi a Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District iskolába járt, majd a Cross Timbers Middle Iskolába folytatta tanulmányait egy kórustagozatos osztályban. Tizenegy éves kora óta gitározik és zongorázik. Sok texasi tehetségkutató versenyt megnyert, és több show-ban is szerepelt. Karrierje tíz éves korában kezdődött a Barney és barátai című sorozattal, ahol Angelát játszotta. Itt ismerkedett meg Selena Gomezzel, aki egyben a legjobb barátnője is lett.Ahogy telt-múlt az idő, Demi elkezdte építeni az énekesi karrierjét, és vendégszerepet kapott a Prison Break-ban, a Split Ends-ben és a Just Jordan-ban. 2007 januárjában megkapott egy főbb szerepet a Disney Channel egyik sorozatában a As the Bell Rings-ben, ahol Charlotte Adams-ot játszotta. Demi szintén főszerepet játszik a Disney Channel Original filmjében a Camp Rock-ban, aminek premierje 2008 június 20.-án volt az USA-ban. Jó barátja a Jonas Brothers-nek, akik szintén írtak dalokat Demi debütáló albumára, az USA Today napilap tudósítása szerint.
2008-ban Puerto Ricóban forgatta legújabb filmjét, a Princess Protection Program-et, amiben legjobb barátnőjével, Selena Gomezzel játszik együtt. Persze a zenét sem hanyagolja el, 2008.szeptember 23.-án került a boltokba bemutatkozó albuma a Don't Forget, amit a floridai Miamiban vett fel. Az album készítéséből Jonas-ék is kivették a részüket, 11 szám megírásában segítettek Deminek.
2009 februárjában indult a Disney Channelen Demi sorozata, a Sonny With A Chance. 2009 nyarán indult első saját turnéjára Amerikában, előtte július 21-én pedig megjelenik második albuma Here We Go Again címmel.
Az új lemezen Demi szerint érezhető lesz John Mayer iránti rajongása, valamint Jon McLaughlin és William Beckett munkássága is inspirálta az elkészítésében.
